Contract 11 month only

    Hello,
    I get new job, 11 month contract. People there tell me at month 11 I leave and maybe rehire after 6 month. Is there legal reason why this the case or company policy? I ask at work but I think they not answer me correct, as in, answer very not like answer,,,,,,,, "fob off " I think it called :)

    Yes. After 12 months, certain employment rights come into force. So some employers get around this by not hiring anyone for longer than 11 months.

    Some Big pharma companies & multinationals Do This as a matter of policy to get around having to grant you actual proper security & tenure - law still allows it, though there have been cases where courts have ruled That after Multiple 11 Month contracts the employee is actually there linger than a year . Paharmas down in cork roll their staff over for 6 months to get around this & them may take them on again- disgusting Practice particularly in areas of high unemployment where they lay no taxes & have IDA grants. No political willpower to stop it though - despite labour being in. Poor show all round .

    While it seems unfair if they did away with this companies would pull out of the country. It isn't as simple as not giving rights to the employee. The solvency fund for the company has to be increased with every new employee.

    Unfortunately accountants rule the world.
