I am aware there is charges for taking money out of an ATM abroad (in Canada) and for using chip and pin payments for buying products in shops. Just wondering which will cost me less? taking all my cash out (I.E. WAGES) in one go from the ATM or using the card in the shops to pay for things (i.e. chip and pin)

    Hi clo 1,

It will depend on the amounts you withdraw or use the card for:
The charges for using a Visa Debit card abroad is:
    -  a cross border handling fee of 3.5% of the transaction value with a minimum charge of €3.17 and a maximum charge of €11.43 per transaction.
    - the currency exchange rate of the day will also apply
    - finally a normal transaction charge will also apply

    I hope this helps

    Thanks
    Linda
