    What age do you have to be to get a .22lr pistol in Ireland

    16, same as any other firearm.

    You can get a training cert on a pistol at 14, but Blay is right, you have to be 16 to own one on your own.

    You need to join a club that caters for pistols before you can even apply for a pistol here in Ireland. Before you go thinking about buying a pistol, go to a club and speak to the lads. See what kind of guns they use, get as much advice as you can from them.

    Then you will be in a position to go look at pistols if you still want to do pistol shooting.

    Oh yeah, save save save. Getting started is pretty hard on the pocket if you are a young lad.
