I have a 26foot tractor livestock trailer and was thinking about painting the bars on it, that is the uprights holding the sheeting? How much paint would it require? Any step how to sand it down? Polish up the aluminium? The trailer is 12 years old!!
    Any help appreciated!!

A litre should go a long way on it. a spiral head lance will clean it down fairly well. if you wanted to sand the aluminium id suggest a really high grit wet and dry paper, but i couldnt see you bringing up the sheeting like new.

Would a litre paint all the bars on it?

all dependss how maany bars on it. a litre and a half of good paint sprayed on will paint a smaall caarr. cheap paints are often a false economy. I have seen a rubbing compound for polishing aluminium bbut im not sure where it can be got.

If you google aluminium pickle gel, or aluminium cleaner you will get a few brush on rinse off products to clean aluminium

does it really make a whole lot of odds if it takes one ltr or two ltrs to paint it. Main cost is in the labour not the bloody paint.

you can put an acid type stuff on the aluminum to shine it up.
