All accidents are tragedies, but these are tragedies on two fronts. Firstly, because they happened and secondly because they are so often avoidable. Single car accident, young male driver, late at night/early in the morning, travelling to or from some social event. It's not rocket science.

Like these unfortunate young men, I was young once also, and I too believed that I was an excellent driver, a born "natural" and that I was, of course, invincible and immortal. At the end of the day, I was lucky.

Lucky enough to survive some near misses and sheer stupidity. It's a pity, but a scientific fact, that young male brains are wired in such a way as to be impervious to graphic videos, advice and common sense. Within the average male brain, the wiring that illustrates the relationship between actions and consequences doesn't begin to develop fully until the male is around 25 years old. So, it looks as though these headlines are with us to stay.

    Condolences to all those concerned.

    RIP young men.

speculation and stereotyping without knowing the facts isn't right.

Could be blow out, driving under influence of drink or drugs, fallen asleep or any number of reasons

    Fact 1. Young male driver.
    Fact 2. Single car accident.
    Fact 3. Late night/early morning.
Fact 4. This is an all too regular occurrence.

Where is the stereotyping? I made no judgements, just stated some facts and extended my sympathies to all concerned.

Thing is... We never hear the facts.

There is never an update on the 9oclock news mentioning if a fatality was under the influence.

In the end we just assume because of the profile.
