I have a win8 laptop and had to change the router to TP-Link because my other one died. Everything else connected to the wifi, iPhone vista etc but the win8 laptop it sees the SSID but will not connect I have tried resetting both router and laptop and manually setting the connect but still no joy. Has anyone any ideas on what I can do ?

I recently had similar problems with a new TP Link router and a Win 7 Dell Inspiron. Changed the encryption settings of the router from WPA2 to WPA and all was well.

    Not necessarily.

I'd say it's more like a hardware issue, I had this problem with a new TP Link TL-WR1043ND and an older Dell Inspiron 1525 running Windows 7.
