i applied online last night for visas for my son and his mother, they're going to turkey next week.i applied for my son's visa first and noticed that i couldn't leave the father's name field blank so i put my name in even though i'm not actually named on his birth cert.
his mother wasn't too happy when she found out,she was worried that he wouldn't be allowed in to the country so i applied again and this time i just put .. in the father's name field.
i honestly can't see their being a problem but does she have anything to worry about?

If some other father was named on some document, this could be a problem. But if no name is there, I cannot see how putting in a correct name in an application can be a problem.

The simplest thing would have been to put the father's name, no?

Also, do they need e-visas? Can they not just get a stamp at the airport?

You can get the visa upon arrival in Turkey. I think it is about €15 per person. Nearly everybody on the plane paid for their visa at the desk before going through customs. I don't think you had to fill out any paperwork while you were at the visa desk - just have your passport and some dosh.

yeah i was in turkey in 2005 and i don't recall having to fill out any forms when i got there,it was just pay up and get your passport stamped.i just thought i could save them a bit of time at the airport by doing it for them online
i just want to put my son and his mother's minds at ease because they think their holiday is going to be ruined.
    thanks for the replies folks.

You can get a visa on arrival, however they have introduced the new e-visa to reduce the queues during peak times

As someone who has had a LOT of experience with Turkish bureaucracy, don't be surprised if your action of adding incorrect names causes problems. In Turkey the names of your parents is very important in establishing identity. They don't seem to understand that In other countries it is quite normal for a fathers name to be left off a birth certificate. I would say to expect this to come back as a rejection for the visa application or at least that they will request proof. Which might be difficult if the name you gave isn't on the birth certificate.

i'm saying nothing,i did up a new visa as requested by my son's mother.if there's a problem it won't be my fault.she told me to leave the father's name field blank so i did..

Fair enough. If it works, it works. Worst case scenario they'll have to queue up for a stamp. The queues move pretty quickly IIRC.

Buying online is easy and quicker especially if you arrive with a big group. BUT BEWARE make sure you go to the government site to purchase. The e-visa site (advertised here) will charge you an additional £57-£60 on top of your visa Service Charge. The charges are shown way down at the bottom of the 1st page and unless you scroll down you can't see them. If you don't notice the exorbitant charge when hitting complete payment on the final page. You've been had. Attempting to cancel brings no answer to the phone and even if you log a support ticket over an hour before they process the visa they will not entertain any cancellations or refunds. Site is legit and you do have to accept T&C's but if you're in a hurry!!! Caveat Emptor.
