    the problem with phones is that they don't work if you wrap them in tinfoil

    so just like NFC cards a physical drive by is always a possibility

    You can shield the NFC and only unshield it if and when you want to share something.

    Offhand, that initial image reminded me of Dr. Who's River Song.
    As for blocking NFC I suppose would a Faraday bag be a reasonable alternative (which blocks mobile signals but I presume would allow bar-scanning)?

    Then again I'm still waiting for an APP that tells me when I've got wifi connection. The little bars are worse than useless since they indicate that I'm connected when I'm not. My definition of connection is internet access / pingable, not that it sees an AP it recognises

    On mine, I can turn NFC on and off. No additional app required.
