Is the Renault Fluence a good buy?

Had one of these as a hire car once and have to say I was never as glad in my life to hand a car back. Driving position, comfort, handling were all terrible. Good economy but that was about it. Of course this is just my opinion.

Looking at a car very like this

    Or maybe this

Both still have a good warranty with Renault including parts and labour.

The 2010 is lower mileage than the 2011 and also getting a bit of money off both. Both are basic models. Would be hoping it would last a long time.
Any tips on them or anyone know if they are efficient?
    Thanks.

Have one three years and not a bit of bother with it. Very good mpg too

Id find it hard to spend that on one knowing what you were able to buy them for that new a few years ago.

I know they're more expensive now but it will always be a cheap car in my mind now.

Spec is a bit poor on them too.

Was it 2011 they did the deals? That means that the brown one is a grand or so less than it cost new if that's the case.

    Exactly.

If you are going to get one try and get one with the TomTom spec. That one comes with half or full leather, sat nav, bigger wheels and a leather steering wheel. Mind you the basic spec is decent anyway with Cruise Control, Bluetooth, A/C and 4 auto leccy windows.

Yeah the Tom Tom spec is nice but they are charging a big premium for it so not sure we'll get one. Thanks.

They're charging a huge premium for the boggo one as it is. There was a 2011 mondeo posted today for that money with a better spec and engine.

You'd really wanna be thinking dacia duster if you want a basic renault with lots of warranty

Bought a Fluence new in May 2011, no issues, nearly 60,000km on it now, very happy with it

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

13k for a 3 year old Fluence? That's crazy money. From a distance these cars look alright, but make no mistake, it's motoring at its cheapest. I'd give it a miss unless it was cheaper. Many thousands cheaper :)

Every time I see a Fluence the first thing that comes to mind is rental car as they seem to be a firm favourite with rental companies. Both cars are typically overpriced from the Renault dealer network.

    2011 TomTom model for €13k:

Anyway the Fluence is really just a rebadged Samsung. :D

Spotted that car all right but some investigation into the dealer would give rise to concern...so there may be a reason the price looks good for top spec.

Why all the negativity with renault? Ive had a good few of them over the years and never once had problems with them

I would try and stretch to the Dynamique if at all possible

Agree, there should be decent room for manoeuvre on price with a bit of negotiation I'd say

It took about a year for the shape of it to appeal to me before I bought one for 16k with scrappage in 2011 but quite like it now
If you plan to hold onto it you don't have to worry about depreciation

They are frugal, fuel wise on the motorway

Always found Renault comfortable to drive

Haven't heard of any reliability issues unlike the earlier 03 - 07 Megane / Laguna & the two posters who actually own one are happy with them

Take it for a test drive & if you are happy with it & the price & it suits your needs, then why not

They have a few of them for sale so they are probably ex rentals. I still wouldn't pay Renault dealer prices for one though especially an entry level model with plastic wheel trim, etc.
