There's still the ESPN channel under the BT umbrella which will show college football. How much, we'll have to wait and see but I doubt it'll be at the same level as ESPNA

Anyone know how much BT Sport (including ESPN) is on SKY? I had it free up till now.

Will be gutted if they are not showing two live games on Saturday evening.

It will be €20 per month on top of the Sky sub as part of the new Setanta sports/BT sports package.

    It launched yesterday btw.

Will need to see how much NCAA and baseball they will be showing before deciding to pay out €20 a month.

keep us posted, €20 is a bit steep on top of Sky Sports. Can you ditch Sky sports and just get the BT/ESPN package?

Haven't had a chance to ring BT yet. I have been looking on the ESPN channel (417 on Sky) to see if there any baseball and college football just going through the guide and doesn't seem to be too much!!

Realistically we're going to get very little football this year.

It's a minority sport, and in terms of interest of the sports being shown on ESPN this year we're going to be behind the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the French Top 14 and the MLB.

That means it's likely we're going to get very little of the midday games, ditto with the afternoon kickoffs with semi-regular evening games whenever there's no baseball on.

I'd say (except in the playoffs in October), college football will take precedence over MLB. I'd say it's more popular in the UK/Ireland than baseball.

Since you're a mod on the baseball forum I'll trust you're opinion. :D

I'm still of the opinion though that we'll be getting way less football than of previous years.

ESPN College pass might be the better option then

You're probably right about the less coverage, especially for the early games as they'll clash with bundesliga and Serie A games but I'd say we'll be alright for games at 9-10pm and later on Saturdays. Hopefully they'll show some games on delay on Sunday as well but we'll just have to wait and see.

True, however I use to love sitting down about 2pm on a Saturday and watching College Game Day and then back to back games.

Well worth it and better value than signing up for BT if your only intention is to watch College football.

Yeah, College Gameday is going to be a big loss if it's not on

    +1.

Only problem with it is that they don't show that many SEC games because CBS has the broadcasting rights for this conference. Big PAC12 games are also usually on Fox.

Very true. Also Notre Dame games wont be on it either unless its an away game or out of conference game. But the good thing about it, it opens up more college football to people me thinks and opens them up to some better games. Some of the smaller teams end up have cracking games. Also a great way to familiarise ones self with the rest of D1 football.

ND home games are shown online on NBC's website. Can't remember if i had to use a VPN or not but I definitely watched a few last season

Does the ESPN player show college gameday and college football live and shows like that or is it literally just the games?

Just games no gameday which is mad as it would make it a million times better.

Ligue 1 games are night games starting at 8pm.

Assuming the total broadcast time is two hours, we'll be missing the first quarter of the stateside afternoon kickoffs.

How's the forecast for getting a good proxy and using the US networks' online feeds? I might go down that route because having a good proxy service opens up a lot of other options too.

Think i might just wait till a few weeks into the season, see what the schedule looks like and then decide if to get ESPN or not.

So no 5/6pm game on Saturdays. That's a shame. No Gameday either.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 504 ✭✭✭Madworld

Again it would have been nice to have seen gameday and the 5pm games but I don't think we ever really had a hope of getting those games with soccer on at the same times.

In terms of the matches picked though I would have preferred Mississippi State vs Oklahoma State & Georgia vs Clemson.

    That's really disappointing.

Anyone got a decent streaming site? I want to hook up my laptop to my 42 inch TV to watch college ball on Sat, but the picture quality is always awful on firstrow when you do that.

Looks like it however is only 1 Saturday on that list so hopefully they might start showing one or both, fingers crossed.

Look's like the best player in ND's recruiting class, Elijah Hood, is after decommitting. Massive blow for Brian Kelly if true

Just after seeing ND linebacker Danny Spond was forced to retire from football due to medical issues aswell. Offseason from hell for Notre Dame

They'll probably only be up by about 20 points by half time then.

I haven't been following this too closely but that seems the most ridiculous outcome possible. Don't ban him or at least ban him for a game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

As I saw someone on Twitter say, it's A&M's way of saying ''Manziel did nothing wrong, and better not do it again.''

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭polaris68

Yes, this is only a ban imposed by T. A&M and not the NCAA whose investigators questioned Manziel this week.

It may not even be related to this autograph signing business - Johnny F got up to a lot over the off-season!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,546 ✭✭✭Masked Man

The sense I was getting was that the college handed out the ban and the NCAA signed off on it and are going to leave it alone because they can't prove anything.

He's gonna be such a disappointment this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,158 ✭✭✭Arawn

He lawyered up, knew everything they had against him, and the ncaa could only talk to him. Fox sports summed it up great last night.

Johnny did you sign those autographs??
    Yes.
Did you receive money for it?
    No.

And that ladies and gentleman is pretty much all they could do about it once he said no money changed hands. He had also let it be known that him and his lawyers would go after the NCAA if they banned him without proof

I'm going to miss it when its not on Saturdays, while snooze hungover on the couch!

Don't know about tonightt but the defending champs & No.1 ranked team Alabama are on ESPN tomorrow night.

Thanks. Not sure I'll get a chance tomorrow but will keep an eye out for Alabama in future.

Texas Tech vs SMU is on ESPN tonight.

Not sure about the quality but Texas Tech's new head coach was Texas A&Ms offensive co-ordinator/QB's coach (Johnny Manziel was Heisman winner) & he will be starting a true freshman walk-on at QB which could be interesting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

I know I've asked before, but does anyone have any streaming sites close to maybe a HD standard? Lack of ESPN is killing me but don't want to pay for the player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

They showed a repeat of the Texas Tech vs SMU game on Saturday afternoon when Game Day would normally have been on. So looks like they are not going to show it. Maybe they haven't got the rights to it?!?
