Just heard on the news that the figures for last month showed car sales are 163% up from last year, giving the motor industry a major boost.
Surely this figure should not be thrown around as we didn't have the double registrations last year?
I wonder what the aggregate sales are for the last 7 months compared to last year?

It's like apples to oranges. You can't accurately compare months when this is the first year of the new system.

Surely they are throwing around this figure due to the double registration this year.

Only really valuable figure will be the year on year.

So July was up, but what about April/May/June?
