Strange problem with speakers and headset

Hey folks..

Built my new computer recently enough but I'm having a little problem that is actually very annoying.

I have my Steelseries headset plugged into the front panel of my case, and my logitech Z506 speakers plugged into the back of the case. Have the Realtek drivers and software installed. The problem is - I was able to have audio playing through both headset and speakers at the same time on my old computer, but for some reason it will only do one or the other on this computer.

In the Realtek software I have 'Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously' checked, which is what worked on my old computer as far as I remember. All along I had speakers set as the default device and couldn't figure out why Chrome kept defaulting to my headset, until I realised that AMD Control Center had them set as default, while Realtek had the speakers set as default. For some reason it chose Control Center over Realtek.

I'm completely out of ideas on how to achieve both playing simultaneously.
