5D mk II acting up

Recently had my 5D freeze up in video mode on 2 occasions, change of battery solved the problem - which I think is down to the card - but then last night I turned it off and went to turn it back on immediately and it wouldn't start for about 10/15 mins.

My guess is I have a dodgy card - the freezing only happened after I started using it, it's a new one, and the camera overheated - it was taking video for 40 minutes straight - but should I be concerned at all?

Checked that at the time, definitely not, thought the same at first.

40mins - there's your problem right there. Take a few cards with you and take no more than about 10mins on each. Otherwise you risk damaging card and camera.

That's why canon limit the video length to 10mins.

I've shot video for hours before, guess it's never been so long continuously, always with breaks between shorter shots. Cheers for the advice.

I thought the limit was due to the 4gb limit on files in FAT32.

    this isnt correct

the reason for the limit is to do with tax

if the device records more than a certain amount it is then classified as a video recording device and means has to have different approvals and taxation stuff

So is it not normal for it to not work for a while after recording video for 40 mins?

Are you recording in a hot environment out of curiosity? I shouldn't over heat but it's possible in a hot or warm area.
