Ryanair / Aer Lingus cabin bags

Particularly useful given the massive luggage price increase Ryanair intends to introduce.

Anyway, Guineys (Dublin) have a shelf load of bags downstairs that claim to fit within Ryanair's restrictions. I can gleefully confirm that they do - to the *millimeter*!!

I bought one - 5 Cities brand in brown (there's also a blue version but that's smaller) - a couple of weeks back and have used it a few times. It's canvas material, weighs next to nothing, folds flat and doesn't waste any space whatsoever with stupid handles. Last time I'd stuffed it full without letting it bulge, and it just dropped right into the baggage measuring thing, much to the horror of yer wan who thought she'd be able to snare me with a hold luggage fee :D

The only thing is that it's not terribly comfortable to carry using the shoulder strap (it has carrier handles too), and I'm not too confident that the buckles or zips will hold up to years' worth of use but hey at just under €6 ya can't really go wrong! :pac:

Found the link after writing the above, pfft!

    Happy jam-packed luggage travelling!

Be wary of having these bulge out the side when packed - very easy for any bag to do that let alone a cheap one and it won't fit in the bag measurer. The near-rigid ones you can get have even less space inside though.

Great bargain. I saw these in Guineys, they're stylish in a 1960's retro way. Ideal for folding up and taking inside another bag.

Yeah it's not just brown, it's yukky brown. Then again you'll be looking at a much less tasteful bright yellow and blue plane interior so style is well out the small, oval window!

And as I and MYOB said, try pack so it doesn't bulge (rolling clothes to the width of the bag and stacking works well)

    It is what it's.
