    Hi guys,

I'm just after receiving my macbook air, ordered it yesterday from jigsaw24. Couldn't be happier with them, wasn't expecting it till after the bank holiday.

Now here's my problem, tap to click isn't enabled by default. I've managed to get into the trackpad settings by using a control & f2 to get to the apple menu, and arrow keys + enter to navigate.

However, now I'm stuck, my mouse is in the search box, and I need to click "tap to click" I have no idea how to navigate to that menu, I've tried tabs and enter but no luck,..I'm new to mac so go easy on me ;)

and now I'm hovering over tap to click, but still can't check the box, enter doesn't work, space doesn't work, 5 doesn't work, what do I do?

Have you tried pushing down on the trackpad to click?

The trackpad also double acts as one huge button as well.

Yep, I only figured it out a WHOLE hour later... after enabling full keyboard access (control + f7) so I can use tab to check boxes...

I know I'm a new to osx, but even still, what hope is there for me??

    Thanks,

(side note, anyone know of a good app for remapping keys? ...I can't stand having to use command + c/v, it should be function + c/v!

Glad to hear you got it sorted!

    In regards to mapping..

Command is the new Control ;)

Since your new to OSX, this might be of benefit to you..

You should really just learn the Mac way of doing things, starting with the keyboard. Trying to change OS X to be like Windows is a recipe for disaster and will make trying to adapt to the new system a very frustrating experience.

Ah sure it's only for copying & pasting, the touchtypist in me would never accept command as control ;)

To be honest I'm finding OSX a lot more intuitive than windows ever was - absolutely love it!

Especially all the multi touch gestures,

you are definitely in windows mode. looking for what is not obvious or hidden!

In fairness is it was more of a design issue, rather than OSX itself.

I'm used to trackpads with "visible" physical buttons, heh ;)

Black apple menu to the top left, system preferences, Trackpad, all your settings are there.

As was said, you're crazy mapping the ctrl/cmd keys, just get used to using your thumb and index finger for cmd shortcuts.

Ah here, it's not just a case of trying to change it to be like Windows, more a case of wanting an environment in line with standard conventions across most graphical OSes (Linux, other UNIX variants like Solaris, Windows as mentioned, etc.). Don't get me wrong, I'm typing this post from an MBP, and I love the computer, but I hate narrow assertions like the above, and this idea of the "Mac way" just because Apple decided perfectly efficient conventions needed to be shaken up - nothing wrong with using your little finger for Ctrl as opposed to your thumb for Command.
