Private company shareholders' list

Is it possible to obtain a list of the shareholders of a private company and their respective stakes? If so, does anyone know how I would go about it?

If you have the company number or name, you can do a search for the latest annual return which should list all the shareholders.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I've already tried that but with no luck after paying a tenner for 4 different types of accounts.

The shareholders should be listed in the annual return (Form B1). Very strange that they are not.

I had another look at the B1 form and you're actually quite right. I overlooked the fact that although the list contains the company directors, there is a company in Luxembourg listed as the main shareholder. So on to the next question, how to find the cro equivalent in Luxembourg.

The name of Luxembourg S.A. company must end with the words "Societe Anonyme" or suffixes such as "S.A.", "AG".
Company names containing restricted words such as "Bank", "Insurance", "Trust", etc. will not be permitted unless an appropriate national operating licence has been obtained by the company.
Beneficial Ownership information Information with regard to ultimate beneficial ownership must be disclosed to the Registered Agent of the company in Luxembourg and is held by the agent on a confidential basis.
