    It seems electronics imported into the eu have 0% duty. You still have to pay VAT on the total - that means you pay "vat" twice - american "sales tax" and then Irish VAT on top of that. Oh... there is also a small charge for customs processing I think - maybe e6.

    Trying to find some links for the 0% electronics duty, but the europa.eu site linked in the pdf above seems to be down :( The examples provided use a digital camera and that has 0% duty, I am guessing a tablet is also 0%.
