Was watching an episode of Law and Order:SVU last night and Alex Kingston was playing a defense attorney called.....Miranda Pond. Coincidence that she plays a character with the same surname as her Dr Who mother and relates to her Dr Who character of River Song ?

She's a recurring character in SVU.
I doubt there's a connection but then again she has enough star power to engineer an in-joke if she wanted to.
