Athlone on Monday

    I'll be in athlone with the better half on Monday just wondering, where nice ofr a bit of pub grub and is there anything fun we could get up to for the day when we are there ? even anything near athlone that would be nice to go on see ?

    There are some nice restaurants behind the castle, just beside the Shannon. As for stuff to see and do i'd have a look at discover Ireland or something like that.

    You could go up to Grogans or the Fatted calf in Glasson for lunch then check out Portlick woods/Lough Ree afterwards if you like to walk, see nature etc.
