Wood Panelling on concrete walls

    Hi

I'm planning on putting wood panelling around the bottom half of my living room walls. I plan to fix 2x1 batons to wall first, then mdf panels, then extra ornate wood over that etc

The walls it seems we're 'tanked' in the 50s so there is an inch of concrete, with probably stone in behind. These walls are no way straight either hence I feel I need the batons(I'm also running cable behind)

I need advice on how to fix the batons onto the walls. Will drilling into concrete and fitting rawl plugs, and screw fixing be the best way?

    Thanks

Hammer fix the battens on with 6x80mm plastic hammer in fixings.

Just be careful if the walls are badly "off" - there could be a good bit of packing out the battens to keep them plumb and in line.

I feel like its a better idea to go with the "contours" of the off wall. If I was to go straight and plumb then it might highlight the lack wall straightness.

Giving it a go on Saturday anyway so will let you know
