But sure you could end up doing something irrelevant to your course. There are so many different disciplines of maths that you could end up doing that there's a good chance it will be a waste of time.

Honestly, in 1st year they really do start from the basics to get people in your situation back into the swing of things.

'Introduction to....' is a common maths module name. i.e Introduction to statistics etc.

Better off not doing it imo.

Hey Im going as a mature student and definatly bricking my self. Maths believe it or not has changed since bak in the 80s they now do something in LC clled project Maths I believe.
So Im going to just roll with it - I will have many years experience in life that those young wippersnappers wont have - I know that actually the degree is just the start - they will still have to get the tea and coffe and file crap.
I will use my great powers of negotiation and time management I have learnt over the years to ge assignment in on time and complete. I have all those powers :)
The adding up will come back to me Im sure - heres hoping!!!
But if you feel that the only thing that will make you happy to start the year is grinds then by all means but there is no substitute for the years of life knowledge you already have - you probably know more than you think.
If the course you are doing very numerate? In UL they have "maths for the mature" The week before term starts. I wonder if they do that at WIT?

On the induction day or the week lectures start, mature students will have their own conference from the Student Union President and other staff. Within this I'm sure that the topic will come up somewhere and if it doesn't you can ask about the maths. More than likely is asked every year!
