I have been offered a job in Clontarf starting in September. Just wondering would anyone have any helpful advice about where would be a reasonably priced and safe place to live in the surrounding area? Was also hoping to drive to work each morning so am very interested to know what traffic from various directions is like around Clontarf in the mornings around 8am? Any help would be great!!

Traffic on the Clontarf, Howth and Malahide roads can be reasonably busy from about 7:30 to 9:00 (Fairview going into town can still be busy up to 10:00 or so), but where isn't at that time? It usually moves reasonably well, though - unless it's a really wet day and *everyone* drives.

In terms of reasonably-priced places to live, Clontarf itself can be steep enough, rent-wise, but Fairview, Raheny, Artane, Griffith Avenue would be places to look. As has been stated many times on this forum, there are good and bad places within any given area, so it would be worthwhile checking out any particular places you were thinking about moving to.

If you're working in East Point, anywhere on the Dart line would be handy enough, there's a shuttle bus from the station to the business park every few minutes during morning and evening times.

Kilester is lovely. Raheny is close by too. They are not too far from Clontarf & would have less dodgy parts than most. Clontarf is one one most expensive parts of the north side to live in due to its proximity to both the sea and the city. If you are budget conscious, I'd go a bit further out. Kilester and Raheny are both on the Dart line too, but the closer you want to be to the Dart line, the more'll you'll pay. There is good bus service in that part of the world too, so the Dart isn't your only option for getting around if you don't want to drive.

A good bit depends on where in Clontarf you would be working. At 8/8.30am during school term, the tailbacks could start east of the Wooden Bridge all the way into town.
