I am a bit baffled on this when it comes to an OPW historic site when taking photograph's. Here is an example when I go to Athenry Castle I have to send an e-mail to permissions@opw.ie just to take a photograph inside the castle but when I went to places like Portumna Castle or Battle of the Boyne interpetitive centre there was no problems? Anyone have 'problems' with wanting to take a photograph of a historic OPW site in Ireland?

You are not allowed photograph the interior of some OPW sites because repeated flash photography can cause damage.
