I have a loan of a chainsaw and I need to get the chain edged/sharpened. I live in Shankill, can anyone recommend someone good to do it?

    I bought one of these:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stihl-Chainsaw-Sharpening-Filing-Kit-4mm-5-32-File-5605-007-1027-/251067893627?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:IE:3160

You, or whoever does the sharpening, will need to ensure that the file is the correct size for the chain. A guage is also handy to ensure you file to the correct angle and get the depth guage correct.

There is also the Oregon PowerSharp which sharpens the saw in seconds but I've never tried one.

A chainsaw dealer/service agent would charge about €7.

Any hire shop should be able to sharpen it..
    €10-15 would be typical.

paid 7 euros few weeks ago and 8 last week in two diff. places for sharpening. quick enough job so they shouldn't charge too much more for it.

They work! eat chains though. And no use to the OP as they work on a specific bar and chain, not any chain. Takes about 10 min to edge a chain with a file and guide, I can do it on a log using a Stump Vice. Takes a while to learn how but worth it if you work in woods a lot (or on a farm)

Buy the correct size file and file guide, it's easy to do the job yourself. Be robbed paying places to sharpen it if you had to do so regular.

Got a local tree surgeon to do it, turned the tree into butter. Sharpest the saw ever was.
