am trying to get my PS3 controller compatible with some games I got in the steam summer sale. I have been trying to get it to work with motioninjoy, but I am having some problems downloading one of the drivers.

    I am running on a windows 8 64 bit.

Any ideas of what the problem is?

I uninstalled it myself and just use my 360 controller , but it I was going to use a PS3 controller I would get Better DS3.

I wouldn't use motioninjoy. The drivers send information from your computer to servers in China. They're pretty dodgy spyware and I don't know why people use them.

There's japanese drivers here that supposedly work a lot better. Might be worth a try:

If you do a general search, its the one most people recommend using.

If your PC is offline the drivers won't work. The software needs to be online so it can contact the chinese servers, which kind of says a lot about the software. Anyway it might be the reason for your problem.

You have to disable driver signing protection to get it to work, done from the boot menu. As mentioned above, I'd stay away from them & use a wired 360 pad

This is supposed to be good: http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/SCP_Xinput_Wrapper

    Just on motioninjoy: http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/MotioninJoy
Malware: Is known to load sh.com, a Chinese schooling website, in your browser when you open the included application, DS3 Tool (required to use the controller)
Must open DS3 Tool every time you plug your controller in
Must select a profile each time
    Updated very infrequently
Is very difficult to remove once installed

Once you enable your controller in motionjoy, you can close the program. and your controller will work until you restart you pc.

I found this on neogaf, no need for motionjoy at all apparently. going to try it with metro LL later,

I used to use Motioninjoy for a long time but I was having some issues with it. And the configuration application left a lot to be desired, especially with its online connection.

I recently replaced it with SCP DS3. Works just as good Motioninjoy, and runs as a service so your controller is ready to use once you connect it via USB, or if you want to use it with Bluetooth.

Instructions for installing it are here.

EDIT: Post above looks to be using same driver.

I am having the most frustrating problem right now trying to get my ps3 controller connected and working with laptop... For some reason the USB ports recognize my keyboard and phone but when it comes to plugging ps3 controller in it's disastourous. This could not happen at a worse time, I badly want to play South Park but this issue is just annoying the crap out of me. For the passed 2 days it would connect but if I move then the controller would disconnect for some strange reason (maybe my ports are broke i dont know).. I am pretty sure my USB 3.0 port is working well though, I have yet to get a connection from controller when plugged into this port however...

Anyone know what I can do... I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers many times... Is there a way to manually install the drivers for the ps3 controller?... Everytime I google something like this it just comes up motionjoy, motionjoy and motionjoy... Fairly annoying to just see it spammed about everywhere and I am having difficulty trying to figure out my problem as afaik it has nothing to do with motionjoy...
