Just watched this film, quite good. I think the sense of a lack of depth beyond the sensationalism is attributable to the play itself, the cinematography is nice though. I'm not dissing Shakespeare's play like others have because it's trashy, yet it seems like it's a bit by the numbers in terms of its exploration of villainy and revenge with added gore/horror to make it seem novel. The dinner scene though at the end of the film was really cool and well ahead of its time. I think it's a pretty good horror film/play which almost seems as if it had been written in the 20th/21st centuries as opposed to the 16th. As a film I'd say it's worth checking out, it's very unusual with the mix of different styles across time periods.
