Freesat box purchasing advice

    Hi all,
Have recently cancelled Sky Multi room and am now looking to purchase a freesat box. The Sky box is goosed so cannot be used to receive free channels.
I have an old TV, and no Saorview ariel so it doesn't necessarily have to be a saorview box.
Recordable would be a nice feature, but not if it's going to massively increase the cost. A 7 day TV guide would be nice too.
Have a budget of max €120 (but cheaper would be better), and don't mind if it's online or bricks and mortar.
I've read through the stickies, threads etc, but I am completely lost. Also, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi all,
and no Saorview ariel so it doesn't necessarily have to be a saorview box.

You wouldn't have. Ariel is washing powder and Saorview doesn't do that.

However you won't get Saorview without an aerial, or with a Freesat box. A Freesat box is the only one to give you a 7 day EPG on the UK channels and you won't get a recorder on your budget.

So the only choice is a bottom end Freesat box for UK channels. For Saorview you will need an aerial and probably a Saoeview box if your TV is old.

Apologies, I should have explained myself better. I should have said saorview doesn't matter, as I wouldn't be able to get it anyways. Thanks for your help.

This is the Terrestrial forum You would be better posting in satellite about a Freesat box.

You might be aware of it, but you won't get any Irish channels with Freesat or generic FTA (free-to-air) satellite receivers.

If you are in an area that can get Saorview & you want RTE, TV3, TG4 etc., as well as the UK channels, there are combi satellite/terrestrial receivers available to suit your budget. (You will need an aerial for Saorview too.)
