    Hi

I'll be starting Psychiatric Nursing in September and I am wondering if anyone knows what the timetable is like? Is it a full week? Long days?

Just trying to figure out work so I would appreciate any help :)

Hi, I don't do it myself but one of my friends does it and she told me a good bit about it.

She said she had a 9am start Monday to Thursday, with a pretty packed and strict schedule. If they were to miss a lot of lectures they'd receive an email asking where they were. Also, you can't really sign other people into attendance because they take your signature at the start of the year. It may seem rash but it makes sense; you wouldn't really want to have a nurse/midwife/whomever taking care of you and having missed a lot of lectures/been signed in by friends the whole time because they may not be as competent as one who went to all the lectures (generalisation but I hope you understand the gist).

The best thing though was that she had Fridays completely off so you could head home thursday night (or head out after your long week! :P ). And most of your lectures are in Áras Moyola, near to Corrib village and directly opposite the engineering building.

I'm third year psych and agree with almost all the above post, except for the bit about fridays!! We often got emails about one lecture on a friday that we had to go to, they are fairly strict on attendance too and as far as i know they are clamping down on it big time again this year! Great course though, feel free to PM if you'd like to ask me anything about it :)
