    Hi

I am looking for recommendations for someone near Cabinteely or Ballsbridge who can strip back and rewax my car. In that I have some marks around it that look like what you get from a sticky tape being stuck on and then removed. I have tried a limited attempt on one area with a clay bar but it didnt have an effect and I dont want to make anything worse.

So greatly appreciate any recommendations for someone near me!

To answer your question.....the nearest recognized Detailer is probably Brian at Spirit Detailing in Leixlip.

I assume the maks you talk of, are not the clear coat that has been pulled away from the surface when removing the sticky tape? Or is it just residue from the tap? If so, have you attempted to polish the area by hand first to see if you can get any results?

    Thanks for the reply.

I dont know what has caused it , its been there since I bought the car 18mths ago (2nd hand 7yr old car) in a few spots and it just reminds me of what looks like what can be left behind when tape is left on stuff for a long time and then taken off. There is no stickiness or apparent residue at all. It has been thoroughly washed and waxed a few times over the 18mths but just thought I'd deal with it now.

    Are they striped or spots?

If spots, they could be etching in the lacquer from bird bombs.

That's just tape residue. You could nearly remove it yourself with Turtle Wax Safe Cut and a microfibre cloth.

You'd imagine ! ;-) clay bar wouldn't take it off when I tried. so think its not from tape

But aside from that , anyone got recommendations for a good Wax'er in south Dublin?

Clay wont have any effect on etched paint work - you'll need to give that a bit of polish. Should be able to remove it with a light hand polish. Autoglym Super Resin Polish or similar.

He seems to be based in Mount Merrion.
