Email regarding Password from Ebay

Got an email from ebay saying there was unusual activity on my account it came from the following address ierswebhelp@ebay.ie does anyone know if this is genuine or a scam.

The clue would be in the headers. It's easy for some to spoof a lot of stuff in emails like the name, from, reply-to, organisation name. I do this often when sending newsletters for clients as a legitimate agent. The best piece of info is the server from where the email was first routed which in the header, unless there's even more obvious stuff in the body, like a link saying www.ebay.ie but actually pointing to ebay.ie.somedodgyserver.somethingelse.com or asking you to send your password by email.

log into ebay (not from a link in the email) and there will be an identical message in your inbox if it is legit. Does the email start off with "Dear yourusername" or something generic?

Yep. There will be a duplicate email in your My eBay Summary > Messages if it is indeed legitimate.

A search for ierswebhelp@ebay in google shows lots of sites where people got ukrswebhelp@ebay.com scams

In gmail you can click on "show original", which is what tricky D was talking about
