An older friend at work has a 2005 120 Prado which was imported from Australia to Ireland. He replaced the battery a couple of weeks ago after which he had a problem with the radio. He says it needs a code for it to work again and he has put in what he thought to be the correct code more than 10 times.

I have done a bit of research online and it seems if you put in the wrong code more than 10 times the head unit will lock up and the online way to sort it is to take it to Toyota. He has taken it to Toyota here in Ireland and they have said the cant help him, they don't have the right equipment for the Prado.

So I'm here to see is there any other way to sort this other than replacing the head unit?

    Thanks guys.

    found this :

is this the procedure your friend followed:

    1. Place the ignition in ACC and make sure the radio is turned off at the head unit.

    2. While holding the number button '1' and number '6' at the same time, push the power button until SEC appears, then release buttons.

    3. Then whilst holding the seek UP button, push number button '1' and '_ _ _' will appear. Then release buttons

    4. Then using the number '1' button select the first PIN number. Keep pressing '1' until you get the right number. Then use the Number '2' button for the second PIN number. Then again using the number '3' button for the third.

    5. Within 10 seconds of entering the last digit push the 'SCAN' button for longer than 1 second. If done correctly 'SEC' will appear for 2 seconds then normal operation will commence.

If you get it wrong 10 times in a row, you will have to leave your radio turned on for 30 minutes. If that does not work then you will need to seek help from your Toyota dealer to unlock the radio.
