Are there any travel agencies in Dublin who deal in Holidays to Bora Bora? I was checking it out myself and I accept that the cost of the accomodation + food/drink is fairly steep(at least 1000 per night in The St Regis Resort). Im fine with that as its meant to be pretty feckin' awesome, holiday of a lifetime and all that. But as far as I can see the flights are ridiculous, 10,000!!!! I mean if thats the going rate to Bora bora so be it but I just wanted to see if there was a travel agent who specialises in trips to that part of the world to ask if that really is the going rate.

With whom are you finding a fare of €10k - in economy?

Frugal Travel Guy recently covered French Polynesia, may be worth a gander:

I'm thinking this is a holiday you would be better of getting a specialist travel agency for. You could fly to Tahiti and onwards to Bora Bora with a combination of Air France and Air Tahiti for about €2500 but a travel agent might be able to do it cheaper in conjunction with your accomodation.

I agree but thats what my original question was about: Are there any travel agents in Dublin who deal with Holiday packages to Tahiti? I looked online but couldnt find any.

Sorry I missed that. Trailfinders should be able to sort you out in that case.

As veetwin said above, changing your point of arrival to Papeete takes a considerable chunk off that eye-wateringly pricey Air France itinerary.

Wow that is some difference in price. Whats the story with travelling from Papeete to the Resort(St Regis)?

There are parts of the Philippines which will give you that Pacific island experience for far less money and with equally low tourist number. These islands are extremely expensive as they are so far from anywhere, they are also small and so by their very nature they have shunned mass tourism as they are just too expensive to fly into cheaply.

They are mainly for really high end honeymoons and for people who are incredibly rich. It is your money and by all means go for it but you could get several weeks of a similar type holiday in other destinations for far far less money, but if its on your bucket list then by all means go for it.

€10k for flights in economy is totally over-priced, €2-€2.5k would be realistic flying out of Los Angeles, Auckland or Hawaii

I've looked into other places and they just dont recieve the good word of mouth that The St Regis or the Four seasons Bora Bora has got. Usually the resorts are ok but full of screaming kids. St Regis is expensive but quiet which is what I'd be after. I accept it will be expensive and thats fine with me, you get what you pay for, but still I'd like to get the best deal possible.

Air Tahiti serve Bora Bora with several flights daily

If Trailfinders or another agent are including the connection from Papeete in your itinerary, be sure to check the mark-up isn't exorbitant. If it is, booking this independently is always an option, though the usual risks apply re making onward connections ticketed separately.

Checked it there and that looks a bit better than 10k. The flight from Papeete to Bora Bora would cost 419 euro return. But I'll go to trailfinders and see what they have to offer.
    Cheers
