hey Folks. I have a Model B raspberry pi and i am looking to put on a multimedia type OS on it.

However i want to be able to stream movies on it, so it would need full flash support and a decent web browser.

Nothing fancy but i don't particular want a desktop of files and applications. So basically not a lxde or xfce desktop environment.

    Any suggestions folks

Raspberry Pi doesn't do Flash per-se, but if you install Raspbmc or OpenElec onto it (ported versions of xbmc) then it will stream video up to full HD 1080p and YouTube video.
The main OS for web browsing and general apps use is based on LXDE Debian Wheezy, called Raspbian but that os will not play video content at all, and web browsing is fairly slow.
To get the best of both you should install a software boot loader called BerryBoot, and then install Debian Wheezy ARM (almost identical to Raspbian) and OpenElec, and that gives a multi boot option depending on how you want to use it. Use at least a 4GB class 4 sd card, bigger and faster will be better.
    BerryBoot here:
    http://www.berryterminal.com/doku.php/berryboot.
    Main Pi os downloads here:
    http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads
Good luck, but don't expect great things as a web browser and apps they can be a little slow, Libre Office suite can be installed if you want it. As an htpc with xbmc it's fairly impressive for the price. I use mine as a torrent client and network printer server.

It would, but no web browser with it, try Berryboot an then you can dual boot it just in case.

Here's a couple more links if you prefer separate cards for Raspbian and xbmc.
    http://openelec.thestateofme.com/
    http://www.raspbmc.com/
    http://rasplex.com/

Edit: There is a media player included in Raspbian, accessed through the command line called OmxPlayer:
    http://rpi.tnet.com/project/faqs/omxplayer
    Web streaming too, apparently:
    http://elinux.org/Omxplayer

Are you talking about the likes of Netflix? Or purely Youtube? Web browsing on the Pi is a pain- you would be better off with a mini-pc of some sort.

I have OpenElec running on the Pi and it does the job for watching / streaming audio and Youtube.

OpenElec boots right into the media center software, so the only way to view websites is through a plugin of some sort. There is one for YouTube, not sure about the others you mention.

Perhaps OpenElec isn't for you after all.
