    Hi Folks

I play the trumpet and am thinking of buying a new intermediate to professional level trumpet.
What shops would sell a good range of trumpets in Dublin? I bought my last one in London but would rather not have to travel that far again.

I used to go out with a trumpeter. When she bought a piccolo and later an Eb, she travelled to New York. On each occasion accomodation, flights and instrument cost less than just buying the instruments here. Plus the fact that she had so many more to choose from, instead of the limited range a supplier here might have to hand. Both Schilke. If I were you I'd price them in different places, and see if I could get a nice few days citybreak as part of the deal. The market for brass just isn't large enough here to keep prices competitive.

Off topic but would you be able to pm me the names of anyone giving trumpet lessons in Dublin? I've had an auld cornet I got off Thomann lying around for years and it's about time I learned to play the shagging thing

There's a band in Tallaght aimed at adult beginner musicians. If you're anywhere near the area it might be worth getting in touch. Playing with a group can be a great motivation to keep playing. I'm not connected with them per we although I have played with them.

This is a link to an (old) article about them and contains contact details http://www.tallaght-arts.ie/2009/06/25/tca-presents-sounds-ensemble-midsummer-concert/
