    Hi all,

Maybe this has been said before (mods: redirect if needed), are the LOI pitches smaller than the likes of the Enlgish Premier league pitches? Maybe it's the camera angles on the tv and sitting in small stands. I was watching Pat's v Cork over the weekend and was really dissappointed at the quality of play. Pat's have a class midfield but the pitch seemed cluttered hampering good play.

Are the likes of Richmond pk and Tallaght pitch size on average smaller than the Premier league in Uk.?

    thoughts please!?!

Cameras can play tricks, but Richmond is about the same size as the old Highbury pitch. Most LOI pitches would be the same in length, some are slightly more narrow than those across the sea.

No idea on the numbers, but Richmond Park and United Park in Drogheda would be tight simply due to lack of space. I wouldn't say there's too much difference between them, but Tallaght seems like one of the wider pitches.

The quality of pitch would make a bigger difference.

    Richmond 108 x 64 m

Old Trafford 105 by 68 metres

reason it was cluttered both sides played 5 in the middle.

Drom is the smallest pitch I've ever seen adults play on

    Very odd question.

Pitches have to be within certain dimensions. There is some latitude but they they are no different in the main to other nations and leagues. Some bigger some smaller

Dalymount Park is a fairly big pitch and Flower Lodge used to be huge.

And in fairness the quality of pitches is fairly good.

Glenmalure Park had probably the best pitch anywhere in Europe (if not the world). That is not an exaggeration. It was incredible and foreign teams used always purr about it.

Lissywollen has the same dimensions as Camp Nau, San Siro and just about every other stadium in Europe.

And the surface is impeccable. The groundsman has always done a great job.

Dalymount has quite a big pitch anyway.
