New Keyboard Euro symbol

I have had to change the keyboard on an iMac and can not locate the euro symbol. The keypad that I bought is a Microsoft wireless version.

While there is a euro graphic on the keypad for the number 4; used with shift that key gives a quotation mark. There are three symbols on that key – 4, $ and euro. Shift + 4 gives me $ but I can't find the combination for euro.

The keys available are – Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Alt Gr. There is another key with four squares bunched together and a further one with a symbol which I can't quite make out – it could be an icon for a printer or for a monitor.

I have to use Shift + 2 to get @ when the symbol on the key indicates ". So the Shift usage for " and @ are reversed.

I assume that there is some other solution to produce the euro symbol but I can't find it.

I bought the keyboard last week in PC World and it is marked compatible for my version of the Mac OS – there is no manual.

    Advice would be appreciated.

Keyboard is set to American going by the @ and " being the wrong way around - change it to UK Extended. Then Alt-Gr 4 should be Euro. On the phone here so I'll let you Google how to change the keyboard layout.

Edit - my bad, this is mac forum - this may or may not work but would work on Windows. I have no idea what way Macs handle the euro symbol.

Sounds like you have a US keyboard layout enabled.

Go to System Preferences>Keyboard and click <Keyboard>. Tick the box labelled "Show Keyboard & Character Viewers in menu bar" and see what you have when click on the keyboard & character layouts on the right menu-bar.

You might also want to check <Modifier Keys...> under System Preferences>Keyboard and click <Keyboard>

It turns out to be Alt with 2.

It's a bit of a nuisance when moving between Apple and Windows.

    I appreciate the contributions.

No different to Word 2010. You used to be able to use ctrl+alt+4 to get the Euro symbol. now it's insert/symbol (choose symbol).
