Cheap(er) Assos shorts - 'Factory Outlet'

I'm looking to buy a pair of Assos bib-shorts and I saw these on the 'Assos Factory Outlet' site.
Assos bib shorts for ~€104 (plus €3 Parcel Motel for delivery). These are a good bit cheaper than the Mille or Uno ones on Wiggle/CRC etc. They are an 'outlet exclusive' though, which worries me a little - perhaps they are not up to the normal Assos standard? Has anybody bought these, and if so how do you think they compare?

I don't know a huge amount about making clothes, but I remember going to outlet malls in the States years ago and they distinguish quite clearly between "rejects" and "seconds".

A reject would be something not fit for purpose and just goes in the bin.

A second would be something that is functionally fine but might have a visible defect (discolouration, etc.) that doesn't meet the manufacturer's quality standard.

I don't think they can sell you something that is fit for the bin.

I tore up my Assos shorts a few years ago, my Mother being an excellent seamstress stitched the side back up and I still use them all the time. If it's just a bit of dodgy stitching or discolouration I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't think there's anything at all inferior about the products on the Assos Factory Outlet website. As far as I can work out, they are just from discontinued lines i.e stock they hadn't shipped to retailers when products were replaced with a newer model. If you're not pushed about having a older version of the shorts (and I wouldn't be), go for it.

The outlet stuff is no different from anything you get in the shops - just typically clearing end of line gear

Thanks all, I think I'll take a chance on them. I reckon I'll cope with the fact that they are 'so last year'.

Assos guy is so painful to look at! Those bug-eyed shades really don't help, and neither does the karate-chop hand posturing.
