Just a few questions about Driving other cars extension. I have read the policy book but would like to be 100% sure.

I am insured to drive any other car, as long as it is:
    • Not owned or leased by my employer
    • I have a full EU licence
    • I am not covered to drive that car under any other insurance policy
    • I have the owners permission
    • The vehicle is in road-worthy condition
    • I still have my own policy.

The bit I am confused about is the use of the vehicle is covered by the certificate of insurance. Could you explain that bit please.

Just to confirm this benefit is applicable to the territorial limits of the policy (ROI, NI, GB, IOM, CI) and it doesn't matter what reg (Irish, NI, English etc) the car has?

    Hi Vuzuggu

If you have a Driving of Other Cars Extension this will be noted on your Certificate of Insurance, however it can be dependant on factors such as your occupation. but if you give us a call we can look at your individual policy for you.

The extension applies in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK and the Channel Islands, if your certificate of insurance states that you have this cover. The full list of terms and conditions are available in your policy booklet. If you have any other queries in relation to those terms and conditions, let me know and I will be happy to answer any questions.

Please note there are other legal considerations if you are driving a car in the UK, as the owner of the vehicle is obliged to insure the vehicle at all times. See the following link for more details: (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Motorinsurance/DG_186696?CID=Continuous_Insurance&PLA=DM&CRE=Furl).

There are no restrictions on what the registration number should be.

    Thanks for your query

    Una
