Blocking emails with certain words

    Hi

I am being bombarded with emails every week trying to get me to buy "Viagra & Cialis" - thankfully I don't need them. smile.png
I always "block" emails from that address after I receive them -but I'm getting a bit sick of it now.
I don't know where the companies that are sending them are getting my email address from.

I just want to know if there is any way that I can block emails containing the words "Viagra & Cialis", or any other way to prevent these companies sending the emails to me.
Is there any Legal action I can take against them too ?

    Thank you

What email client are you using? What email services are you using?

I thought most people just use a gmail account for the spam filtering services alone.

Consider switching to Gmail. I've not received a spam message in.... I can't remember when I last got a spam message into my inbox. I made the switch from hotmal to gmail about 8 years ago.

    Hi Skylops
I might have to do that - just a bit inconvenient notifying all my contacts etc.
Just looking for an easier way to block them really.
I wish someone would bring in some legislation against this, I hate it as much as I hate postal JUNK mail.

    Thanks

You can get gmail to pick up email from another email service. Haven't done it with hotmail but I have it for other services and it works fine.

I'm a bit surprised that you have such a problem with spam with hotmail. Its not like they're a two bit email operation. Is there any possibility that you've mistakenly whitelisted spam email addresses or tinkered with settings that you mightn't have known what the effect of it might have been. Again, i'm not entirely familiar with hotmail - i'm just a bit surprised that you'd have such a difficulty.

Here is how to create custom filters in hotmail

However, when you have to go down this route, your anti-spam system is broken and you need a new one. There is too much over head in managing this kind of system. With gmail and other similar providers, I dont have to spend as much as a second dealing with spam. In the past 8 years I've gotten maybe 2 or 3 into my inbox. When I was on hotmail I used to get 8 or 9 a day with the spam filters on high.
