    Anyone catch this tonight?

Based on the true history of Quarry Bank Mill in England. Set around the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and the fight for workers rights.

First episode was good. Bit grim, but that's to be expected given the subject matter. Worth a watch on 4OD if you missed it.

    Loving this show, it's excellent

I'm not familiar with many of the actors.
I know Master Gregg was in Billy Elliot and the elderly doctor has been in many TV shows.

The union organizer has a right Irish brogue when he gives his speech! It's toned down for any other scence.

And we see rich people and our "betters" being hypocrites, nothing has changed

    So sad what happened
    the younger sister
    :(
The manager left her walk off across the countryside so he would not have to return the fee to the workhouse.
The older girls talked about walking cross country and getting lost and dying and this is what happened the youngster. Left to die to pocket a few quid :(

Was it so he wouldn't have to return the fee? I thought he was just letting her go because he knew she was as good as dead anyway so why send her back to the workhouse? Maybe I'm wrong. He did spend the fee though but I figured that was just him getting one over on the Greggs.

One of the girls used to be on Corrie, the one that wouldn't speak up last week about yer man touching them up. And the engineer guy's been in lots of things too. But for the most part they seem to be relatively new faces which is good because it's easier to buy into the world when you're not thinking oh that's him from this or her from that all the time.
