    Hi

I am getting a new house and trying to decide on doors, floors and skirting colors

I am thinking of going for a brushed oak floor throught the house (except kitchen and bathrooms) and white oak doors throught the house. In terms of skirting I am not sure wether to go for matching oak skirting or go with the default white skirting. The oak skiriting will cost an extra 2K.

I am going for a modern style in terms of overall decoration

Any opinons..if there were some photos out there showing differnt combinations it would be great

    Thx
    J

    Hi,

We went for brushed oak floors with an oiled finish. The wood is quite dark so we felt that a painted finish to both the skirting and doors was a better contrast and doesn't distract from the floor itself.

I see the benefits of going for oak doors and skirting as it much labour intensive over its life time in terms of upkeep, but personally I think it's too much wood. I would be more inclined to do painted skirting with the oak doors as a contrast.

That's just my opinion, best of luck with all the decision making

    +1

White oak wide plank flooring, white oak doors, eggshell skirting and architrave.

Engineer and builder advized us against oak skirting/arcitrave as it would be tad too much and a bit ott.
