    2 quick questions here lads:
I'm looking for a shorter handlebar stem at the moment but none of the ones I've looked at seem to quote the fork diameter, Are they all a standard diameter? Secondly; most of them seem to suit a handle bar diameter of 31.8mm whereas my handle bar is 32.5mm.. will it suit?
    Thanks.

Fork diameter won't really be mentioned at all if it's a Ahead stem you're looking for, almost all of them will be for 1 1/8th" forks, quill stems are all 1".

There's 3 types of common diameter clamps: 25.4mm which tends to be for MTB bars and Nitto bars, 26.0mm which is for some drop bars, and 31.8mm or OS which is for a lot of modern drop bars or mountain bike bars with oversized clamps.

What kind of bars do you have? 32.5mm clamp diameter sounds fairly odd.

Take your own stem off and measure both ends using callipers. You'll find its most likely 31.8mm, your bars may be thicker in places so only measure at the point the stem fits.
