Can anyone settle an argument for me and tell me what Sweeneys on Dame Street was called before it was Le Cirk?

Nope, Paddy Kearneys/Huba is on the same side of the road as the Olympia and Le Cirk/Sweeneys is on the same side of the road as the Mercantile

It used to be Spar. 1997 Thoms confirms this. Can't remember what it became then though?

The nice people upstairs in Pearse Street library - Dublin City Archive and Library might do a quick look-up in Thom's for you if you give them the address, the year you want and they're not too busy.

It was a Spar as I used to work on Dame St and I would grab some lunch from there.

yeah I remember this, think it changed around 2007ish. I remember seeing them digging up the floor to make room for the kegs etc when converting to a bar

Good to see a Spar becoming a pub, rather than the other way around
