Hello and thanks for reading my post.
I am a carer of an old lady and presently me and my 2 kids live in the house I work almost an year. We ended up in this situation because I couldn't find suitable accommodation which I can afford and was pretty stuck, so the family offered me to stay in the house, paying proportion of the bills till we find something, which hasn't happened yet. I am really grateful and appreciate their help and didn't want to be rude, but because I had no choice I made lots of compromises, but some of the issues keep affecting my kids well being and I am looking for any kind of support so we can move out. Cohabitation of this kind Isn't easy anyhow, but the major thing is that the lady is old and sick, normally she doesn't sleep at night, she is restless and makes noises and that disturbs kids' sleep almost every night.
I will be very grateful if you can tell me what should I do and what kind of support I could possibly get?

    Many thank in advance.

Have you got your name on the housing list? Have you applied for rent allowance?

Moonbeam, I haven't done anything because I don't know whether I am entitled to any benefits as I didn't rent private accommodation for at least 6 months and as far as I understand this is one of the conditions to be met. Am I wrong? I am not sure that's why I need advice. THanks! :)

OP maybe you should go to threshhold for advice

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
