    Lads

Advice please, I bought myself two new tyres - specialized espoir elites.
Installed both yesterday pumped up to the usual 110 psi and went for a cycle this morning and this happened to the front tyre within 5k and obviously caused a puncture.

I presume this is a tyre defective and I am entitled to a new one. The back tyre had no issues.

    cheers

Check that your brake blocks aren't close to the tyre when braking.

Absolutely, that should not have happened. I assume the shop will replace it without cost since it could have been quite dangerous.

I dont think the tyre is at fault. To me, it looks like mis-aligned brake blocks wore into the tyre wall.

    Cheers Lads

I check the brake blocks and they are correctly positioned so I dont think they wore into the tyre wall.

I never had this issue before (bike is 1 year old) and this only happened 5km after installing the tyre.

Anyway going to return to Evans cycles, as I bought it online.

This can also happen if you use steel tyre levers to install/remove a particularly tight tyre, or if the tyre is too wide for the rim.

That picture looks very much though like the bead just ripped straight out. I'd definitely be going back with that.

Brake blocks wouldn't damage the bead.

Cheers Seamus, I was thinking maybe I damaged the tire when I was putting it on however I use plastic levers and I have changed plenty of tires over the years without any problems.

I also checked the exact specs for my wheels which are 700x25c and bought tyres for that exact size I even went so far as to buy the exact tyres that came with the bike.
Anyway, will see what Evans cycles say, apparently for warranty goods they have to be submitted for review before refund is processed.
