I did not see that coming out all, I really liked first movie,

second, I didn't even about till I heard news about The Butterfly Effect 3, I was like , when did second come out? , So, about 2 years ago, I watch 2 and 3 back to back.

I didn't like the second at all, I thought it really bad, so sold it and then 3rd one not bad at all, I thought it was very decent but much better the second one but still not as good as the first one.
FilmEngine and Benderspink are teaming for a reboot of the Ashton Kutcher 2004 sci-fi feature "The Butterfly Effect".

The story starred Kutcher as a college student who finds his consciousness can travel back in time to inhabit his younger self. He uses the ability to change several horrific childhood traumas.

By changing them however, it has unintended consequences on his present life and only ends up harming those he cares about.

Shot for just $13 million, the film made $96 million at the box-office and spawned two direct-to-DVD sequels.

The original film's writer-director Eric Bress is on board to pen the new script, but no director is yet attached.

The first film's producers A.J. Dix, Anthony Rhulen, Chris Bender and JC Spink will again produce.

To give the first film its due, it wasn't very good but there was a lot of potential there. I remember quite liking how the tension around certain scenes (eg the fireworks scene) was played. I don't think Kutcher was the right choice of lead at all, though, and the ending needed to be much better than what was offered.

So in that sense I think it's a much better candidate for remaking/rebooting than other recent choices such as Oldboy or Spider-Man. At least with The ButterBoot Effect or whatever they call it they might actually realise the potential of the concept this time around...

havent seen the film in 3-4 years, but i was well impressed by it, and i do hate the ashton kutcher approach to it, like that is only reason needed for anyone to explain that the film is bad, kutcher done a great job in this and also in the guardian with kevin costner, but he didnt get any credit for this or that so why ****ing bother trying when you can make twice if not 3 time more money doing what hes doing, he was typecast very early in his career and it didnt help that he acted like a douche for years, but credit has to be given where it due and he was great in the butterfly effect,

also completely pointless reboot, yet again hollywood shows its lack of creativity rebooting a film that isnt even 10 years old, the sooner these studios go to the wall the better, disney have had 4 major films fail on them in the last 3 years, loosing between 150-250 million dollars on each of them and they still seem to have failed to learn their lesson,

I guess they are running out of classics and cult films to reboot, so they're just picking things out of a hat now.

The lack of originality in Hollywood is ridiculous these days.

This is a good sign for those of us holding out for a big budget The Human Centipede remake :pac:

    I kid, I wouldn't even watch that.

I did enjoy The Bufferfly Effect though, and would watch this remake (just to see what they do with it), I didn't see the Straight-to-DVD sequels.

Thought The Butterfly Effect was excellent. Only reason I wouldn't watch it was because Kutcher was the lead role but I was very surprised when I did.

    Reboot will be terrible.
