Opel Astra 1.4 16v Automatic - Overheating/Issue with Fan???

Hi guys, would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this.

My Astra has been over heating lately and the radiator seems to consume a **** ton of water.

When the Astra is on but in Neutral or Park, the needle will learn towards 90/100 deegrees. I have put coolant in but has not seem to have done anything neither.

However when inspecting it, there is a black cable coming from the radiator which seems to follow down to the fan, its cased in black and has a blue line going down it.
At the end of the cable there appears to be a blue heard with what appears to be a blue two pin head of a sort which seems that is should be connected in somewhere.

The car only passed the NCT two weeks ago so I'm clueless to what it is, also I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to cars to any help appreciated.

Extra info, its a 00 1.4 16v auto, I tried checking for error codes with a pedal trick but it doesn't seem to work on mine.

    Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you have a coolant system leak and this causes the overheating.
Get car to a mechanic pronto before the overheating causes irreparable damage to the engine. Make sure to have radiator full at all times, carry a big bottle of water in car.
