Bank maintenance fees paid while being a student - refunded?

I have been with Permanent TSB bank from the age of 17, I am 21 now. I have been paying bank maintenance fees while being a student (studying in uni now). I have been never asked if I was a student or offered to have my account changed.

A rep from a different bank has told me that I could get these maintenance fees back from the bank on the grounds of being a student all those years, just need proof of it. Does anybody know if that's possible and how is it done?

P.s. I have closed the account because of the poor quality of service (not a student-friendly bank).

Thank you for your time. :D

You'd have to ask Permanent TSB, I would imagine.
