A Chinese toddler has died in a Beijing hospital after being wounded during a row between her mother and a man over a parking space, state media report.

They say the two-year-old girl suffered critical injuries on Tuesday when the man pulled her out of her pram and threw her to the ground.

He also reportedly beat the mother, who had refused to make way for his car, while she attended to her daughter.

The driver was arrested. He could face execution if he is tried for murder.

Police also detained a second man in the case, who was allegedly a passenger in the car and helped beat up the woman.

The toddler died on Thursday night after being kept alive on a respirator, Chinese state media said on Saturday.

The assault happened when a man, identified only by his surname Han, wanted to park his car by a bus stop in Beijing.

But the toddler's mother was standing in the parking spot and refused to move her pram.

The driver got out of his car and hit the woman before removing her daughter from the pram and throwing her forcefully to the ground, an eyewitness is quoted as saying.

"The baby made no noises after being dropped, not even a cry of pain," the Beijing Times quoted him as saying.

Some vile creatures over there i hope they stick a red hot poker up his arse and let that be his execution

It would be strange if there were not some weird stories from China as it contains a huge amount of the worlds population.

We are not great at child protection in this nation and there is only about 3-4 million of us.

Lets fix our problems first before having a go at a country with over a billion people as you rightfully point out to the op.

This happens in China the guy will get a bullet to the back of the head and his family will be charged for the bullet.

If this happened in Ireland the guy would get "life" in prison. This would consist of barbaric treatment like him having his own cell, tv, dvd player, play station, different menu every day and more than likely released on parole after 10/15 years.

Not exactly. His sentence can be commuted to a lower sentence if his family engage with the victims family in harmony reconciliation (I think it is called that). Basically his family pay the other family money

What I find shocking is that some posters here delight in the supposed demise of the US as a super power. China will then take it's place, imagine that for a world! They skin dogs alive too.

No, no, no, no, no. If it happened in Ireland, he would be charged with Manslaughter, get a 4 year sentence and serve only 2 years in prison.

I'm fairly sure - certain, in fact - that killing babies over parking spaces is not PRC policy, either domestically or internationally. Furthermore, I'll go out on a limb and say that infanticide is not unique to China.

I love these kinds of posts. On one hand showing moral outrage over an act of violence then hoping for gruesome violence, torture and death in return.

An eye for an eye is it?

Their general attitude to human rights (and treatment of animals) suggests they would not be suitable world police but I'm going off on my own tangent here. Widespread stealing of the West's corporate secrets also boils my blood.
There was also the case where a young girl was hit by a van and plenty of people walked by and didn't help her. Wonderful people.

    All for a parking space..

I don't think that's the full story to be honest.

But illegally kidnapping people, torturing them and holding them for a decade is suitable? Using unmanned drones to indiscriminately murder innocent people is suitable?
Widespread bugging/listening and storing of peoples emails/texts/phone calls is suitable?

The moral of the story there is never attack the US. In regards to the monitoring, I don't mind it as it protects us from terrorism etc. I for one have nothing to hide. They are far from being innocent in everything they do but in general I would prefer them to be the main superpower rather than China.

Lol please post evidence of gitmo prisoners having attacked America.
Please post evidence of the thousands of children murdered in drone strikes having attacked America.

As for the monitoring here is a heads up for you. When you use the words terrorism/terrorist to justify EVERYTHING it just shows you up for the sheep that you are.

Oh my gosh, I actually feel physically sick reading that - forget that it's china, forget all that - how could any human being do that to a little baby?!
I'm sitting here with my own baby and I swear every time she so much as twitches in her sleep my heart stops until I'm sure she's okay.

I couldn't even imagine picking her (or any child) up and hopping her off the floor, not in my worst nightmares could I do that! What would you have to be missing in your mind to make that leap? How...I mean, jebus, how could anyone be so evil? Over a ****ing car space!

How did that guy decide - I can't wait two seconds to park my car, you know what'll hurry that along? I'll catch that child and hop her off the road, that'll show that stupid woman and she'll move her arse!

Sick, twisted, evil, bastard -I hope he gets a severe punishment.
