Private swimming lessons Waterford city???

    Hi Folks.

I’ve recently decided to take the first plunge into learning to swim! I’m 30 and have never been able to swim. The problem is that I have a fear of water: not so much that I can’t get in, I’m quite comfortable in the water but if I loose my footing or my head goes under I panic. And so, I’ve never really be able to to try to swim.

I think the best approach would be to get some one-on-one lessons but so far haven’t been able to find any instructors. I’ve tried a few local gyms but with no response from any of them.

Do anyone know any coaches in the Waterford city area that would do private lessons (preferably someone with experience dealing with fear of water)???

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Neeko,

I am just wondering if you ever found a good swimming instructor. I am in the same position and looking for an instructor in waterford. Thanks

Eoin Lyons gives lessons out of the kingfisher, I have only been to him once but found him very good. He has a great reputation. http://www.waterfordtriathlonclub.com/news/30-swim-fast-coaching

No worries, I think he was €30 for the hour one-on-one. Tough going, but felt great after. I should really go back again a few more times!

    Hey guys,
I don't know if you got sorted but I'd recommend Gillian Walsh in Kingfisher Gym. I had a massive fear of water, so much so that I wouldn't even put my face in the water! Well after 4 lessons I'm doing front crawl, jumping into deep end threading water.
I can't recommend her enough. She's patient and goes with whatever speed you feel comfortable with, she also pushes you slightly out of your comfort zone if she thinks you're well able. I now live in Dublin and come down to Waterford to do my lessons with her as I'm very happy with what she's doing and I trust her 100%
